We offer a complete array of building permit, code and sustainability consulting services that are required of construction projects. Position

This position is primarily responsible for providing support in conducting plan reviews, site inspections, code research, and the preparation of letters, code opinions and reports. The position also supports the overall operation by assisting clients in obtaining municipal approvals economically and efficiently without compromising public health, safety and welfare.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Effectively interpret adopted building codes and standards
  • Conducts plan reviews and prepares written comments / reports
  • Conducts code inspections on existing buildings and prepares reports.
  • Conducts municipal and private industry code research and prepares reports.
  • Attends and records meetings with clients.
  • Answers basic code questions and inquiries in writing and over the telephone.
  • Maintains applicable certifications by attending training sessions for continuing education.
  • Monitors proposed and new building codes and changes to existing codes.
  • Prepares and conducts professional training seminars to in-house staff and building industry.
  • Performs administrative duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors of Architecture or Structural Engineering (license preferred).
  • Minimum 10 years experience in A/E/C industry or municipal government.
  • Specialist in Building/Fire/Life Safety/Energy/Accessibility codes.
  • Familiarity with the basic concepts of structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Excellent research, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent mentoring, collaboration and consensus building skills.
  • ICC Certification (preferred).
