Job Description

The Division of Nephrology in the Department of Pediatrics at Stanford University School of Medicine/Stanford Medicine Children's Health is recruiting a full-time board eligible or certified Pediatric Nephrologist to join the Division as a Clinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, or Clinical Professor in the Clinician Educator Line. Academic rank and line will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. The successful candidate will join 13 faculty, 9 fellows, 9 advanced practice providers, 9 nurse specialists, and multidisciplinary team members in pediatric surgery, urology, rheumatology, pathology, genetics, histocompatibility, nutrition, social work, child psychology, and child life. We closely collaborate with Stanford Adult Nephrology program, together offering a combined adult/pediatric nephrology fellowship training. Clinical duties include on-site and outreach clinics, as well as inpatient responsibilities. We have ambulatory clinics in general nephrology, dialysis, CKD, transplant, hypertension, and cystinosis. You will work with fellows and APPs and opportunities exist to build out other clinical programs depending on the applicant's interests. On the inpatient service, you will supervise peritoneal dialysis, hemodialysis, CRRT, aquapheresis, and plasma exchange - these procedures are daily features of the inpatient Nephrology service. We work closely with the liver, cardiac and stem cell transplant programs as well as the cardiac and pediatric ICUs. In our NICU you will uniquely care for newborns with renal agenesis using state-of-the-art renal replacement therapies. Our 6-station dedicated pediatric chronic dialysis unit and home peritoneal dialysis training facilities are located on-site in the children's hospital. The kidney transplant program is every year one of the top pediatric transplant programs in the country for volume as well as outcomes. The major criterion for appointment as Clinician Educators is excellence in the overall mix of clinical care, teaching, administrative and/or scholarship appropriate to the programmatic need the individual is expected to fulfill. Opportunities exist to participate in clinical research, quality improvement, medical education, health equity, advocacy, and global health based upon the candidate's interests. While this is a clinical position, the division is strongly committed to scholarship and supports participation in a multitude of academic disciplines. Mentorship, sponsorship, infrastructure and support will be provided to all successful applicants. The Stanford Department of Pediatrics is committed to advancing the health of infants, children, and adolescents through innovative medical care, research, education, training, and advocacy.
