Outside Sales/Sales Hunter with Book of Business, focus on roofing, siding, exterior supply –
Building Supply Company, Orlando, Florida
100k to 300k commission, draw or base combinations available
Position Summary
The outside sales/sales hunter is responsible for both generating new business and managing an established portfolio of accounts within a defined territory. This role is ideal for a driven, self-motivated professional who excels at prospecting, relationship-building, and delivers consultative solutions to contractors, builders, and other clients in the building supply industry.
Responsibilities
- New Business Development (Hunter Activities)
- Proactively identify, qualify, and pursue new sales opportunities through independent lead generation, cold calling, networking, and participation in industry events,
- Schedule and conduct face-to-face meetings with potential clients, present company products and solutions, and negotiate contracts to close new business.
- Leverage CRM tools to track leads, manage sales pipelines, and ensure effective follow-up.
- Stay ahead of market trends, competitor activity, and industry developments to identify growth opportunities.
- Account Management (Book of Business)
- Manage and grow a portfolio of existing accounts, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and loyalty.
- Evaluate clients’ current and future needs, provide product recommendations, and offer solutions tailored to their projects.
- Monitor account activity, identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities, and drive repeat business.
- Alleviate service concerns promptly and provides post-sale support as needed.
- Sales Execution and Reporting
- Drive sales by consistently meeting or exceeding performance targets and quotas.
- Prepare and deliver sales presentations, proposals, and bids.
- Provide regular sales reports to management using financial and statistical data.
- Collaborate with internal teams (marketing, supply chain, customer service) to ensure smooth onboarding and ongoing support for clients.
- Field and Industry Engagement
- Travel within the assigned territory to meet clients, visit job sites, and coordinate deliveries when necessary.
- Attend industry events and engage in community networking to represent the company and expand its market presence.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of several years in outside sales, preferably with a proven track record of managing a book of business in the building supply or construction sector. with particular focus on roofing, siding, exterior supply
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or related field preferre 3 .
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM software.
- Industry Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of building materials, construction processes, and the ability to read blueprints and specifications.
- Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building abilities.
- Personal Attributes: Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and results-driven with strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Travel: Willingness to travel regularly within the territory and occasionally to industry events.
- Driving Record: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
