Job Description

Arconic is currently in search of an Ingot Process Specialist to join our Aluminum Extrusion (AEX) business unit in Lafayette, IN.

In this role you will:

  • Utilize internal company and external training resources, become the subject matter expert on the departmental production processes.
  • Develop and track critical variables to analyze and report on production performance.
  • Analyze and implement known company best practices.
  • Assist in performing troubleshooting of the production processes as required.
  • Assist in improving operator and maintenance technician level of knowledge on operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Create and maintain process documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs) and training materials per ISO 9001.
  • Work effectively with cross-functional teams engineering, quality control, and production, to ensure smooth operations.
  • Manage production training matrix and work with department superintendent for department training needs.
  • Accurate records are kept of all process parameters and quality results.
  • Investigate and resolve issues that may arise during the casting process.
  • Assume a leadership role within the assigned department to set and maintain standards of operation and safety.
  • Fill in as a floor supervisor as needed
  • Manage melt sheets and oracle transactions
  • Meet with Superintendent and union rep for department overtime needs/wants and submit to HR.
  • Improve the melting, holding, and teeming processes to ensure consistent molten metal quality and reduce costs.
  • Analyze process data to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement for casting
  • Define, develop, and execute capital investment projects in support of the departmental equipment.
  • Handle all purchasing for production team including projects in department.
  • Perform monthly furnace sign inspections and submit to EHS and ept consultants for environmental and emissions standards.
  • Perform weekly audits on production floor and submit to quality department (2 times a week)
  • Audit all cast reports in ingot, homogenization reports for Ingot and lithium cast house
  • Input all cast reports and homogenization reports into computer data base
  • Print homogenization charts and complete report to file in correct department.
  • Other duties as required.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma and GED from an accredited institution
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing role
  • This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. §730, et seq.) and/or the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Qualified candidate must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the relevant government agency. Business demands may require employer to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and more specifically in Excel with demonstrated ability to create simple formulas and pivot tables
  • Experience in working in an ERP data based, Oracle is a plus.
  • Experience working with molten metal
  • Experience in the Aluminum industry
